What is a Biomarker?
A biomarker is an indicator of your body's physiological state. While biomarkers come in different flavors, here at InsideTracker, we most often refer to blood biomarkers. These markers are measured by analyzing the blood collected during a blood draw. Glucose, cholesterol, and iron are examples of common blood biomarkers you might recognize. Blood biomarkers tell you about the current state of your body as they change based on your diet, lifestyle, and state of health.

Users in your state are required to use our mobile phlebotomy option, called mobile blood draw. For an additional fee, a registered phlebotomist will travel to your home or office to draw blood.

Residents of Canada are required to use our “mobile blood draw” option, in which a registered phlebotomist will travel to your home or office to draw your blood sample.
Note: Insulin testing in Canada is not available at this time.

Get a blood plan + MBD
Purchase a blood plan and add-on Mobile Blood Draw at checkout.

Schedule blood draw
You will receive a phone call, text, or email to schedule your mobile blood draw.
Step 3
Prepare for your blood draw
Fast for 12 hours, avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours, and stay hydrated.
It’s important to properly prepare for your blood draw. Here’s what to do:
1. Schedule your blood draw for the morning, as you should be fasted.
2. Do not engage in strenuous exercise for 48 hours before your blood test.
3. Do not drink any alcohol for at least 24 hours before the blood test.
4. Do not take supplements within 24 hours of your blood draw.
5. Fast for at least 12 hours before your draw.
6. Continue medication use as recommended by your physician.
7. Drink extra water before the blood test to ensure proper hydration.
—Set up your account. Once you’ve purchased a blood test, complete your account set up.
—Use a test. In your account, select “Orders” and then "Use Test." This will get your order approved by a physician. It can take up to 48 business hours and needs to be completed before scheduling your blood draw. You’ll receive a notification (a text and email) when your order has been approved.
—Schedule and complete your blood draw. Schedule your blood draw, whether it’s in a lab (like Quest Diagnostics) or a mobile blood draw. Scheduling instructions will vary by lab:
A. Phlebfinders/ExamOne: Your phlebotomist will call you directly to schedule your test. Expect to receive a blood draw kit in the mail prior to your appointment.
B. DynaCare: Your phlebotomist will call you directly to schedule your test. Your phlebotomist will bring your blood draw kit to the appointment.
C. GetLabs: You will receive a scheduling link via an email from InsideTracker. Please skip the order upload; InsideTracker will take care of it. Your phlebotomist will bring your blood draw kit to the appointment.
